Alicja (Alka) Puscian

Role: Professional Development Committee Member

Alicja (Alka) Puscian is a 1st year postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Dr. Mike Higley (Neuroscience, Yale School of Medicine), where she has been studying the role of different interneuron populations in the control of visually-guided behavior. She completed her PhD in neuroscience at Nencki Institute (Warsaw, Poland) in the laboratory of Prof. Ewelina Knapska.

In the course of her PhD program Alka was involved in numerous student organizations. She was twice elected Chair of the PhD Students Council of Polish Academy of Sciences. Alka was also engaged in science popularization through initiatives such as science festivals and workshops. From 2013 she has been associated with Khan Academy as a polish lector in biology.

As a YPA member she aims at using her experience to best serve postdocs by supporting their professional growth and social involvement.
