Biography:
Andrew Hastings is a second year postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Dr. Erol Fikrig in the section of Infectious Diseases at the Yale School of Medicine. His research is focused on exploring the effect of molecules in the saliva of the Aedes aegypti mosquito on the replication and pathogenesis of important vector-borne diseases, such as Zika and dengue virus.

Andrew completed his Ph.D. training in Microbiology & Immunology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in the Spring of 2015, where he was involved in many student organizations on campus. He hopes to use his experiences in these organizations to help the YPA to connect postdocs to each other and to opportunities for personal and career enrichment at Yale.
