Role: Professional development subcommittee member
Mancy Tong is a first-year postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Dr. Vikki Abrahams in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale School of Medicine. Her research is focussed on understanding the response of neutrophils to a dual bacterial-viral infection of fetal membranes during pregnancy, and how this may lead to preterm birth.
Mancy completed her Ph.D training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Auckland, New Zealand in February 2017 where she studied extracellular vesicles released by first trimester human placentae and investigated how these vesicles may contribute to maternal vascular adaptations during healthy pregnancy and how this mode of feto-maternal communication is affected in preeclampsia. As a member of the professional development subcommittee, Mancy is interested in informing postdocs of the diverse career development opportunities that are available and improving the Yale postdoc experience.
