Natasha Picciani

Role: Treasury Committee Coordinator

Natasha is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Casey Dunn (Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology). She is interested in understanding how organismal diversity evolves and the mechanisms that can constrain or facilitate the evolution of complex traits. Her current research seeks to understand the mechanisms that drive the evolution of complex life cyles using polyp and jellyfish life stages of cnidarians.

Natasha completed her PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara (California) in 2020. Originally from Brazil, she received her MSc in Zoology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2013. Throughout her academic experience, Natasha has been engaged in numerous outreach activities and mentoring programs for Women in Science and Minorities.

Natasha especially appreciates the importance of budgeting and financial managing for fostering research and related activities. In 2021, she joined the YPA as Treasury Coordinator to support the activities sponsored by YPA and ensure that efforts from every YPA committee are financially successful.
