2017 NPA Meeting Report

The two co-chairs of the YPA attended the 15th annual National Postdoctoral Association meeting last month, and presented a poster highlighting our new ‘Postdoc Orientation 201’ initiative that was started last Fall. The co-chairs took detailed notes and have compiled a report with some interesting findings. You can take a look at their summary presentation here: and go more in-depth with their findings here: If you have any questions about any of their report you can contact them at and they would be happy to tell you as much as they know!

Scientific Writing and Communication Course

We are pleased to offer the Scientific Writing and Communication Course again this semester. The instructor, Angie Hofmann, Ph.D., is a scientific writer and editor who has consistently received very high praise from her students.

Scientific Writing and Communication for Postdocs is a comprehensive series that teaches the basic principles of scientific writing and communication and applies them to one’s own scientific research.  Emphasis in these sessions is on practical application to achieve clear logic, good style, and maximum impact with the reader and reviewer in mind. Examples and practice problems are taken directly from pre-publication and published documents and represent typical scientific texts.  The course is offered as a series of four-week sessions.

All sessions are from 11:30 to 1:30 pm in the locations listed:
 March 30 at 55 College
; April 6 at 55 College;
