Nicole Lake

Role: Former YPA Chair, 2022-23

Biography:

Nicole is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Genetics in the Yale School of Medicine. Her postdoctoral research aims to improve the diagnostic rate of rare genetic disorders, by identifying novel causes of disease, and by developing resources to facilitate the interpretation of genetic variants. She received a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2018 on the genetic basis of mitochondrial diseases, and also holds MSc and BSc degrees in human genetics.
 
Nicole’s professional experience includes university teaching, diagnostic genetic testing, media interviews, community presentations, and symposium committee roles. She is looking forward to working with the YPA and contributing to the broader Yale postdoc community.
