Anderson Brito

Role: Chair

Biography:

Anderson is virologist who develops and uses computational tools to study molecular evolution. He obtained a PhD degree in Computational Biology from Imperial College London (United Kingdom) in 2018, and a MSc in Microbiology from University of São Paulo (Brazil). He has experience in multiple aspects of Molecular Evolution, and integrates Phylogenetics, Genomics and Structural Biology data to better understand the evolution of viruses from a systemic perspective.

Currently he is a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale School of Public Health (YSPH), based in Dr Grubaugh Lab (http://grubaughlab.com/team/), where he investigates the emergence, transmission, and molecular evolution of mosquito-borne viruses.

By being a director in many student-led associations, he learnt the importance of social engagement for career development, and for enriching everybody’s experience in academia. As a postdoc, he joined the YPA committee to keep supporting such valuable initiative created by/devoted to early career researchers at Yale. When not in the lab, Anderson can be found in dance classes (Salsa, Bachata), and sampling some beers around the city.
