Benoît Mermaz

Biography:

Benoît joined Yale in 2019 as a Postdoctoral Associate in the labs of Prof. Jacob and Prof. Irish in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB). His current research aims to Combat a bacterial disease affecting Citrus trees using Gene Editing. He joined the Communication and Professional Development Committees to manage the YPA online presence, communicate about events, and contribute to Professional Development events. He is excited to work with the YPA and connect with fellow Postdocs.
 
Before joining Yale University, Benoît received a BSc and a Master’s degree in Plant Sciences from Université de Montpellier 2 in France. He received a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from Imperial College London, investigating the effect of a histone modification on plant development. When not working, Benoît enjoys hiking, baking, and caring for his house plants.
