Lauren Woodard

Biography
 
Lauren Woodard is a cultural anthropologist and Postdoctoral Associate at the MacMillan Center. Her research focuses on migration, race, and national identity along the Russia-China border. While at Yale, she will be teaching and working on a book project, Alike but not the Same, which focuses on how government officials and immigrants navigate Russia’s migration bureaucracy. It is based on 13 months of ethnographic research in Moscow and Vladivostok.
 
Prior to joining Yale in 2021, Lauren earned her PhD in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and worked as an Analyst for the US Government Accountability Office in Washington, DC.
