Biography:

Maria is a Postdoctoral Associate in the laboratory of Dr. Jesse Rinehart in the Department of Cellular & Molecular Physiology at the Yale University School of Medicine and the Systems Biology Institute located in the Yale West Campus. Her research focuses on unique modified proteins that facilitate cancer invasion and metastasis and can be explored as novel biomarkers or as potential drug targets, in a group effort to more effectively fight aggressive cancers. Maria is a Biochemist and she obtained her PhD with specialization in Pathobiochemistry from the School of Medicine of the University of Patras, Greece, in 2015, where she contributed in the investigation of RNA regulatory elements that mediate essential metabolic pathways and can be used as an alternative target of novel antimicrobial drugs or immunologic agents. Maria enjoys working in a team environment and believes that mentoring is the cornerstone of skills development and successful professional progress.
