Muhammad Zawwad Raza

BiographyZawwad is a postdoctoral associate in Dr. Sadeghi Lab at Yale Cardiovascular Research Center. His research focuses on the pathophysiology of vascular remodeling and identification of novel molecular markers for its diagnosis and therapy. Zawwad is basically trained as a pharmacist and did his Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) in 2013 from University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, Pakistan. He then practiced pharmacy profession for a couple of years in Dubai, UAE before moving to France in 2015 for his Master and Ph.D. He completed his Ph.D. (Moleuclar and Cellular Biology) in 2020 from University of Lyon, France where he worked on the biological roles of 5’-nucleotidases in human lung and breast cancer cells.

Zawwad has always been very passionate to be actively involved in the societies for co-curricular and curricular activities. At UVAS, He has served as president of the “University’s Debating Society” and coordinator of “Natak Mandli” (University’s Dramatics club). Zawwad has also served as coordinator of university’s student committees during his master and PhD at UCBL where he successfully organized professional events, symposiums, and attended faculty meetings as student’s representative.

During his free time, he loves playing badminton, climbing, and spending time with his family and son. He is also a fond of Urdu and Punjabi literature and poetry.
