The TTIP program is designed for postdocs and graduate students who have successfully completed their third year to provide them with some experience in technology transfer and better prepare them for career opportunities in this field. Selected participants will work under the direction of Richard Andersson, Licensing Associate at the Office of Cooperative Research (OCR), where they will gain opportunities to shape how Yale inventions are translated into commercial products and services by corporate development partners.

The TTIP fellows will have the opportunity to learn about some or all of the following:

  • Evaluate ideas for their commercial potential
  • Write an impact statement and market your research
  • Draft detailed non-confidential marketing summaries Outreach to industry
  • Participate in the development of commercialization strategies Ways that university and industry interact
  • Improve your communication skills with the business world Exposure to different labs on campus
  • Organize meetings with companies 

TTIP fellow will attend and participate in a wide array of new ventures as well as OCR/YEI staff meetings where they will have opportunities to meet and discuss aspects of the technology transfer roles.

On average, these opportunities will require a time commitment of 3-10 hours per week during a semester in addition to their work in their current laboratory. The first round of intern will start in September.

OCR is looking for motivated candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills with superior interpersonal skills and competence to work with a range of individuals, including tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
