Caroline Muiler Barbosa Nogueira

Caroline Muiler Barbosa Nogueira

Coordinator, Modern Instructor Leader
Mentorship Committee
Yale Postdoctoral Association

Caroline is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine. Her research explores how SGK1 regulates CFTR function, ion transport, and inflammation in the intestinal epithelium, particularly in the context of cystic fibrosis. She also investigates a specialized epithelial cell population known as CFTR High Expresser (CHE) cells, exploring their potential role in gut-brain signaling and sensory regulation in the intestine. She received her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil, where she investigated the use of extracellular vesicles in sepsis-induced kidney injury. Before coming to Yale, she conducted research in Brazil and Canada.

As part of the Modern Instructor Program she is interested in improving teaching and mentoring practices in science.

Outside the lab, she enjoys crocheting, being in nature, traveling, music, and spending time with her lovely dogs.
