Sadaf Ghorbani

Biography:

Sadaf is a postdoctoral fellow in Brennand lab, Department of Psychiatry. She employs 2D and 3D (brain organoids) stem cell technology to study how genetic mutations associated with Schizophrenia alter the neuronal function and morphology. Sadaf completed her PhD in University of Bergen, Norway with her PhD thesis focusing on determining the cross-talk among signaling pathways that regulate biosynthesis of dopamine neurotransmitter through phosphorylation modification. 

Sadaf has been active as organizing member of the annual Norwegian National PhD conference, welcome committee for International Master’s degree Students at University of Bergen, and NORMENT’s Junior scientist’s symposium with a focus on open science. Besides academic events, she has been volunteering in Norwegian Nature conservation association to research and educate public regarding bioplastics, organize events promoting circular economy and recycling, and organized an exhibition with the focus on plastic waste and its environmental impact. Sadaf has joined professional development group in YPA as she believes we all need to develop the whole toolkit of our professional skills besides our scientific skills. Therefore, by joining this group she can meet and interact with an active network of postdocs to learn from them and develop her skills while helping others by organizing informative workshops and seminars.
