Sean Edington

Role: Advocacy Committee Coordinator

Biography: Sean is a postdoctoral associate in Mark Johnson’s group in the Department of Chemistry. His current research focuses on using infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to characterize chemical structures that are important to catalytic processes and biological functions such as ion binding and signal transduction. More broadly, his research interests include biophysics, ultrafast spectroscopy, and reaction dynamics. 

Sean received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and earned a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Princeton University. Before coming to Yale, Sean was a postdoctoral fellow in Carlos Baiz’s group at the University of Texas - Austin. 

Sean is passionate about promoting healthy work-life balance and believes that this goal is central to fostering diversity in academia.
