Sheila Nagamatsu

Biography:

Sheila is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. Her postdoctoral research aims to study the association between epigenetics and psychiatry disorders, mainly substance use. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Campinas in 2019 in Genetics and Molecular Biology with an emphasis in Bioinformatics (Brazil), studying genomics and transcriptomics of yeasts to ethanol production. She also holds a BSc degree in Biotechnology from the University of São Carlos (Brazil). Furthermore, Sheila is the Chair of the League of Brazilian Bioinformatics 2nd Edition (2020-2021), a competition that aims to encourage the development of human resources in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in Brazil. Outside of Science, Sheila enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling. She is looking forward to collaborating with the YPA.
