Yuan Ren

Role: Symposium Committee Member

Biography:
Yuan Ren obtained his PhD in Neuroscience from Purdue University under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Suter. During his PhD Yuan studied actin-based morphology and motility of the neuronal growth cone, the tip of a growing neurite, from Aplysia bag cell neurons. Yuan is currently a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in the lab of Dr. Julien Berro. Yuan is developing a new class of in vivo force sensors and is using these force sensors to quantify the production and transmission of mechanical forces during clathrin-mediated endocytosis in fission yeast cells. Outside the lab, Yuan enjoys watching movies and hiking with his family.
