Anna York is an Associate Research Scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Dan Weinberger (Yale School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases). She completed her PhD in Life Sciences at the University of Warwick, UK in 2019. Her current research aims to provide a better understanding of serotype switching in Streptococcus pneumoniae by investigating genetic, metabolic and biochemical variations in the capsular polysaccharide.
Anna has always been passionate about volunteering and being an active member in the community. She ran a youth group for disabled children in the UK, works with organizations to help the homeless here in New Haven, and is on various Scientific and University committees.
She has been an active member of the YPA since 2019, was coordinator of the Professional Development Committee, then Coordinator of the Symposium Committee, Chair of the YPA and now Treasurer. Anna enjoys attending YPA organized events and is enthusiastic about everything the organization does. When not in the lab, she loves playing the piano, dancing, and climbing.
