Jon is a postdoctoral associate in the Yale School of Medicine, Departments of Internal Medicine Genetics. He studies RNA regulation during early zebrafish development in the Cardiovascular Research Center. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City studying under Dr. Hillary McGraw. His doctoral work investigated how a mutation in the gene foxg1a resulted in abnormal development and regeneration of mechanosensory cells in the zebrafish lateral line. Jon hopes to pursue a career in academia as he has a love of teaching, mentorship, and community outreach in addition to his passion for research.
Outside of scientific pursuits, Jon likes to be active in many in many ways including bouldering, hiking, kickboxing, snowboarding, and motorcycle racing. He is loves to cook and play board games.
