Nebal is a Swiss National Science Foundation Fellow in the Kaminski Lab, within the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Department at Yale School of Medicine. She is a physician-scientist, pneumologist, and internist by training. She earned her MD-PhD in Germany and Switzerland (Bonn University and the University of Basel) and holds an MPH from Harvard University.
Her postdoctoral research focuses on fibrotic lung diseases, with a particular emphasis on environmental and occupational exposures that contribute to pulmonary fibrosis and early interstitial lung diseases (ILDs). She applies Next-Generation Sequencing technologies to identify gene signatures and biomarkers that can improve the diagnosis and treatment of lung fibrosis.
Outside the lab, Nebal enjoys music, playing the piano, swimming, traveling, tennis, and reading.
