Niketa is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Surgery at Yale. Her project involves studying the role of donor-derived cell-free DNA in kidney patients following a transplant. She is interested in finding out if the changes in cell free DNA can act as a reliable marker of organ rejection post-transplant. She completed her PhD from University of Manitoba, Canada where she studied regulation of immunosuppressive molecules in murine stem cells following hypoxia exposure. Passionate about helping people, she hopes that by being a part of YPA’s buddy mentor program, she is able to provide resources and support to her peers for a smooth transition to Yale.
Outside lab she enjoys baking cakes, trying new craft projects and taking pictures around New Haven.
