Alexis Denton

Role: Communications Manager

Biography:

Alexis is a marine physicist in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at Yale. Her postdoctoral research in EPS focuses on observational analysis of Arctic sea ice via satellite remote sensing in collaboration with a United States Office of Naval Research initiative to improve mathematical models of sea ice behavior to better predict the state of the Arctic climate system through time.

Alexis received her PhD in Applied Marine Physics from the University of Miami in May 2020. She joined Yale the same semester and the YPA comms team in the fall. She is happy to be serving the postdoctoral community in this small way as communications manager and is looking forward to being active within the YPA.

Outside of research, Alexis enjoys film and literature and reading criticism of film and literature. Before the pandemic, she was a cellist in a community orchestra in Miami, the Alhambra Orchestra, and was looking forward to joining the New Haven community orchestra; she looks forward to the day that might be possible again.
