Rafael Lopes

Biography:

Rafael is currently a postdoctoral associate in the Grubaugh lab and Cohen lab in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at Yale. He is currently focusing on developing nowcasting models that jointly use genomic data and case data. He earned his PhD at the São Paulo State University (São Paulo, Brazil) in the Institute for Theoretical Physics in 2022. During his Ph.D., he studied models to estimate the impact of climate change on Dengue incidence and hospitalization, where his research guided him towards studying nowcasting models with different data streams.
