Biography:

Sunayana is a Postdoctoral associate at Yale School of Medicine (Department of Pharmacology) in the laboratory of Dr. David Calderwood. During her Postdoctoral research, she is trying to explore how mutations in actin binding proteins lead to various pathological disorders in human beings. Sunayana completed her PhD from UNESCO-Regional Centre for Biotechnology, India, in the field of cell biology. Her research project was focused on understanding the mechanisms involved in biogenesis of Tunneling nanotubes using different in-vivo and in-vitro models.

Sunayana is eager to network within the scientific community and being involved in inter-disciplinary discussions to widen her horizons of knowledge. Sunayana enjoys understanding the cultural values of different communities and learning different languages. Apart from scientific research, Sunayana loves spending time with her family and friends, hiking and cooking vegetarian Indian cuisines. YPA provides a great platform to establish networking with her peers and she looks forward for the exciting journey as a YPA-PD member.
